Check to make sure your bobbin winder is off!
Most BERNINA presser feet come with small screws that hold on guide if you wish, these should be removed if not using a guide because over time the vibrations from the machine will cause that screw to fall off the foot!
We know this is scary! But your machine is not broken, this just means you've got a problem in the bobbin area. Remove bobbin case, remove hook, and make sure there's no thread wrapped up in the bobbin area and that the hook is properly seated!
Most likely, either you forgot to close your bobbin door or you have lint on your bobbin sensor. That bobbin sensor has a light that reflects off the silver mirrors on your bobbin. If there is a piece of lint or thread blocking that light it can not reflect off the mirrors properly.
Make sure you're threading your machine with the foot UP! If the foot is down when threading, your tension discs are closed. Therefore, your thread will lay on top of the tension disks instead of getting down in the tension discs.
When your feed dogs are lowered, they will stay down even after you press the button to raise them, they will come up when you either take your first stitch, or turn the fly wheel until the needle goes down and comes back up.
When in doubt, always unthread and rethread your top and bottom thread, clean out and oil your bobbin area, change your needle, and when that doesn't work call us at 256-539-2414 and we'd be happy to listen to what's going on and troubleshoot over the phone if possible! Happy Sewing!
