Free Classes to Master Your Bernina!

New Owners Classes Info

The mastery classes are for new BERNINA owners, or new-ish BERNINA owners needing a refresher! If you’ve already taken the courses before, you’re still welcome to hop back in! Here at Barb's Sewing Center, we pride ourselves in education! We want you to come participate and learn all the marvelous things your BERNINA can do!

How Much Do These Classes Cost?

These classes are completely FREE to new BERNINA owners who have purchased a machine from us, even if you’ve taken them before, it’s still free.

How long will these classes last?

Each class will have a “start date” and then we’ll meet every week until we’ve covered everything. This usually takes an average of 3 classes however, we go at your pace and the classes will go on until we’ve covered everything!

When are the classes?

Call us to find out when the next classes are or look under the classes section to sign up! Generally we try to offer at least one Saturday class, sometimes that isn't possible. So if you can't make this upcoming set, request to be put on the email list for the next round!

Trouble Shooting Your Bernina

Machine Making a Weird Fan or Buzzing Noise

Machine Making a Weird Fan or Buzzing Noise

Machine Making a Weird Fan or Buzzing Noise

Check to make sure your bobbin winder is off! This is the most common troubleshooting call we get.

A Small Screw Fell Out of Your Machine

Machine Making a Weird Fan or Buzzing Noise

Machine Making a Weird Fan or Buzzing Noise

We get a lot of these calls too! Most BERNINA presser feet come with small screws that hold on guide if you wish, these should be removed if not using a guide because over time the vibrations from the machine will cause that screw to fall off the foot!

10-10 Error Message

Machine Making a Weird Fan or Buzzing Noise

My Machine Keeps Saying My Bobbin Is Empty When It's Not!

We know this is scary! But your machine is not broken, this just means you've got a bobbin problem. Remove bobbin case, remove hook, and make sure there's no thread wrapped up in the bobbin area and that the hook is properly seated!

My Machine Keeps Saying My Bobbin Is Empty When It's Not!

My Machine Keeps Saying My Bobbin Is Empty When It's Not!

My Machine Keeps Saying My Bobbin Is Empty When It's Not!

Most likely, either you forgot to close your bobbin door or you have lint on your bobbin sensor. That bobbin sensor has a light that reflects off the silver mirrors on your bobbin! If there is a piece of lint or thread blocking that light it can not reflect off the mirrors properly!

Tension Issues

My Machine Keeps Saying My Bobbin Is Empty When It's Not!

Feed Dogs Aren't Coming Up

Make sure you're threading your machine with the foot UP! If the foot is down when threading, your tension discs are closed. Therefore, your thread will lay on top of the tension disks instead of getting down in the tension discs!

Feed Dogs Aren't Coming Up

My Machine Keeps Saying My Bobbin Is Empty When It's Not!

Feed Dogs Aren't Coming Up

When your feed dogs are lowered, they will stay down even after you press the button to raise them, they will come up when you either take your first stitch, or turn the fly wheel until the needle goes down and comes back up.

Having further problems or a different issue

When in doubt, always unthread and rethread your top and bottom thread, clean out and oil your bobbin area, change your needle, and when that doesn't work call us at 256-539-2414 and we'd be happy to listen to what's going on and troubleshoot over the phone! Happy Sewing!
